We know for a fact that no two bodies react the same to stimulus, making it a necessity to tailor specific changes to suit your lifestyle. However, before you can figure out what you should be doing to improve your life and longevity, you need to take a step back and look at what your current lifestyle consists of.
Evaluating your current habits, lifestyle, and routines is really key in living a longer, healthier, and happier life. You are in control, so take the reins and get started!
Yes, it may be hard to turn the microscope within oneself, but is necessary to determine habits that are detrimental. If you’re unsure what to look for and assess, we have created a handy quick start list to point you in the right direction. Read on to find out more:
Your Job Involves Sitting For Hours Per Day
We get it- the most “prestigious” jobs are all enclosed in a cubicle or office, making it a necessity to set for hours per day. However, before you say this isn’t you, sitting at the steering wheel of a vehicle for hours also counts. What you need to do is come up with proactive ways to move a bit more every day.
For example, move the phone out of your office- walk to the front desk or reception area to get your calls. Alternatively, if you are sitting from hours of driving, park the vehicle a little way off from your place of business, and walk back to it. If using a parking lot, park in the spot farthest from the door. Use the stairs instead of elevators. See a pattern here? Every little bit helps.
You Eat Out Every Day
One of the side effects of having a hectic job is eating too much cheap fast food. Why? Fast food is convenient.
Why shouldn’t you be picking up the 99 cent menu after all? Well, for one it’s typically very unhealthy food, loaded with fat, calories, and unhealthy carbs.
A better fix? Prepare your meals on your day off, or the weekend. Tupper ware was invented with you in mind after all.
Planning is integral- don’t come up with recipes as the days go by, this will lead to failure. Even if it means eating the same things every day, as long as it is healthy and you enjoy it, have more and be merry!
You Spend Money Unnecessarily
It should go without saying that the more you spend, the harder you will need to work to replace it. Sure, a few may be in the 1% whereby a few million don’t hurt you, but most of us aren’t.
Do not throw money and caution to the wind, as the insecurity arising from lack thereof can be a source of major stress and anxiety, both very detrimental to your overall health.
Assess Your Personal Support Network
Don’t have any? That could be an indication right there. Something had to give making loved ones move away from you, either your lack of availability of temperament. Either way, not having a network of close loved ones can leave you feeling alone, bitter and resentful.
Reach out today, apologize if you know you are in the wrong, and mend dear relationships. Do not live with regrets as it can chip away at your emotional and physical well-being.
The few mentioned above are by no means exhaustive, but do represent a large fraction of poor lifestyle choices made by people every day. The sooner you can identify and subsequently work on improving your deficiencies, the better, and likely longer your life will be!
